I am a Salvadorean woman, currently working as the Head of Digital Narratives at the ifs internationale filmschule köln, and co-founder and creative director of Alharaca, a Salvadorean feminist news media organization that combines journalism, arts, and new technologies to strengthen equality, diversity, and democracy in Central America.

My research interests, from both a theoretical and a practical perspective, include the topics of memory, public space, collective creation, and feminist media practices.

In my work at the film school, I lead the curriculum planning and organization of the master’s program, teach seminars for masters-level students , and participate in research activities, most recently leading the research group “Diversity in Film and Media” for the creation of a MOOC for Erasmus-funded project.

In Alharaca, I lead the Equipa Creativa (creative team) of 6 professionals working to create innovative journalism products and experimenting with new formats, and lead special projects to expand Alharaca’s portfolio. My most recent project is a locative audio documentary about the massacre that happened in the city center of San Salvador during the funeral of Archbishop Óscar Romero, whose murder is seen as the beginning of the civil war in El Salvador. This project was nominated to the Premio Gabo and was listed as one of the 50 best journalism works of 2022 by the Fundación Gabo.
